Reflections – Arts in Education

Reflections is an outlet for students to turn their creativity loose! The Reflections Arts Program encourages students to tap their inner creativity and express themselves through their artwork. Students are invited to reflect on a common theme — “Show Your Voice!” — and submit original artwork in one or more of six categories:
  • Dance Choreography
  • Film Production
  • Literature
  • Music Composition
  • Photography
  • Visual Arts
The student, or at least one member of their household, must be a member of the FMHS PTSA. Selection and recognition is achieved on 4 levels: Local, Council, State, and National.
The deadline for submissions is Oct. 19, 2022. Please turn in submissions in the FMHS Main or FM9 front office. Each entry must be accompanied by a completed Student Entry form.
Entry forms and rules are available here. Students should download the Program Rules to ensure their art meets the requirements for each art category.
Selection Criteria : Student entries submitted  for Reflections undergo  evaluation process, wherein judges will consider the following criteria:
    1. Interpretation: How closely the piece relates to the theme, based on the work itself and the artist statement.
    2. Creativity: How creative and original the piece is in its conception of the theme and its presentation.
    3. Technique: The level of skill demonstrated in the basic principles/techniques of the arts area.

It is suggested that students give their submissions a title that stands out and describes how the piece relates to their personal interpretation of the theme.

Special Artists: Special artists should follow the general rules and guidelines outlined in the arts category  and student rules specific to their submissions, modified only by accommodations for individuals with disabilities. The accommodation, in general, should be both specific and limited to the student’s disability.

Enjoy creating and participating in this wonderful program to win awards at Local, Council, State, and National Level PTA!
