JOIN PTA! Did you know that PTSA membership is a requirement to receive scholarships from FMHS PTSA or Texas PTA, or to advance in the PTA Reflections program? It is easy to become a member by visiting joinpta.org. Or download and return our membership form.
Membership is our only major fundraiser. When you join PTSA, you help support programs like campus grants, student programs, Grateful Dads, staff hospitality, Jammin’ Jags, Reflections arts program, and communications efforts. You also are lending your voice to state and national PTA advocacy efforts! Thank you for supporting these important initiatives!
The FMHS PTSA is pursuing the National PTA School of Excellence designation for both FM9 and Main campuses. You can help us by filling out our surveys!
The National PTA’s School of Excellence program supports and celebrates partnerships between PTAs and schools to enrich the educational experience and overall well-being for all students. The path to excellence starts with a joint commitment of PTA and school leaders to work together to achieve PTA’s National Standards for Family-School Partnerships. For more information, visit the National PTA School of Excellence page.
Your responses to this survey will help FMHS PTSA develop an action plan to improve our family-school partnerships. We’ll survey you again at the end of the school year to see if we’ve achieved our objectives.
The National PTA Reflections program encourages students of all ages and abilities to explore and be involved in the arts. Through the program, LISD PTA, State and National PTAs across the country urge students in preschool through grade 12 to create and submit original works of art in the medium of their choice (dance choreography, film production, literature, music composition, photography and visual arts) reflecting on a theme —
There also is a special artist division option for students with disabilities to ensure that all students have the opportunity to participate in the program. Students are recognized each year for their artistic ingenuity to bring the theme to life in a way that is personal and meaningful.
Entry Rules and Forms:
The student or at least one person from their primary household must be a current member of the FMHS PTSA.
Students should download the Program Rules to ensure their art meets the requirements for each art category. Each entry must be accompanied by a completed Student Entry form. Visit https://www.txpta.org/reflections-participation
There is no limit to the number of entries for all categories.
Submissions Deadline: Oct. 25.

FMHS PTSA proudly supports campus projects through our campus grants, approved individually by our board. In September, the FMHS PTSA board approved four campus grants!
Amanda Killough, social studies teacher at FM9, was awarded a grant for starter plants for a pollinator garden (pictured here). We can’t wait to watch it grow!
Samantha Squiers, FMHS English teacher, was awarded a grant for a class set of the book “Educated” by Tara Westover that can be used by English III students.
Lt. Col. (Ret.) David Hansen, Senior Aerospace Science Instructor/AFJROTC, was awarded a grant to replace two sabers and refurbish a third saber for the AFJROTC Saber Team.
Carie Krueger, English teacher, was awarded a grant for a charging station set for the classroom.
Teachers/staff who are FMHS PTSA members are eligible to apply for grants to benefit the FMHS/FM9 community. We have funds remaining in this budget line item and will consider additional requests at future meetings.
