FMHS PTSA Scholarship Recipients

CONGRATULATIONS to Alyssa Hedding (left) and Katherine Spruce (right), FMHS 2020 graduates who were awarded scholarships from FMHS PTSA!

The Lewisville Education Foundation manages our senior scholarships and selects the recipients.

Alyssa and Katherine have answered a few questions for us. Enjoy!

Alyssa Hedding

What is your favorite FMHS memory?
My favorite FMHS memory has been Friday night football games.

How are you making the best of social distancing or online school?
I am staying active by going on walks, taking dance classes, playing board games with my family, and staying very organized.

What’s your advice for younger Jags?
You got this! You will find what you want to do. Trust in yourself, be yourself, and never stop learning.

Want to give someone a shout-out?
Shout outs to my choir and theatre directors for always pushing me, my family for always believing in me, and my academic teachers who were very understanding when I missed school for a theatre or choir competition (which happened often).

What are your plans for the future?
I plan to study musical theater at the University of Central Oklahoma.

Katherine Spruce

What is your favorite FMHS memory?
Winning our first playoff game in Jaguar history this 2019 football season, then getting to go to AT&T Stadium with the team! Being on the sidelines because of athletic training was an amazing experience that I will never forget.

How are you making the best of social distancing or online school?
I am making the best of social distancing by enjoying my time outdoors. I have been going on many walks and bike rides around my neighborhood as well as hammocking by the pond.

What’s your advice for younger Jags?
Get involved and experience every moment to the fullest. Joining clubs allows you to make new friends and spend time with people who have the same interests as you. I spent all four of my high school years in the athletic training program and I am so thankful for the lifelong friendships that it brought me.

Want to give someone a shout-out?
I would like to give a special shout out to my parents and my educators. Thank you to my parents for supporting me and getting me to where I am today. I could not have done it without you both. Thank you to my educators for pushing me to be my best and for setting me up for a successful future.

What are your plans for the future?
I plan to study psychology at Abilene Christian University.

Congratulations, Alyssa and Katherine, and good luck in your future endeavors!
